Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Back of House Manager to oversee all operational and support services behind the scenes, ensuring the smooth running of hotel operations while upholding the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Critical Criteria (Requirements) Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role within hotel operations, engineering, or facilities management Proven experience managing back-of-house departments, including housekeeping, maintenance, engineering, and support services Strong knowledge of hotel operational systems, workflows, and health & safety compliance Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining operational excellence Hospitality qualification or diploma advantageous South African citizen with a valid ID Key Competencies 🔹 Operational Leadership – Ensure all back-of-house operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely 🔹 Team Development & Supervision – Lead, mentor, and motivate multiple teams across support departments 🔹 Safety & Compliance – Maintain adherence to OHS regulations, hotel policies, and environmental standards 🔹 Collaboration & Communication – Work closely with front-of-house, F&B, and management teams to support seamless service delivery 🔹 Problem Solving & Decision-Making – Address operational challenges proactively and ensure timely resolution Duties & Responsibilities Oversee all back-of-house operations including maintenance, engineering, housekeeping, and support services Supervise and develop departmental managers and staff to maintain high performance standards Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations across all back-of-house operations Monitor operational workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements Collaborate with front-of-house and F&B teams to support service excellence and guest satisfaction Manage budgets, resources, and operational costs while ensuring quality standards are met Maintain accurate reports, logs, and records related to departmental performance Respond to operational emergencies and provide hands-on support as required Live and promote the hotel’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion, and Integrity Package on Offer Basic salary (TBA) 50/50 contribution to Pension Company contribution to medical aid Important Application Notes Must hold a valid South African ID Only candidates with proven back-of-house management experience will be shortlisted Ensure your CV is 100% updated All applicants will attend a virtual introduction interview Recruitment aligns with the company’s Employment Equity Plan Lead operational excellence behind the scenes and ensure the President Hotel remains Cape Town’s most iconic luxury destination.
