About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Bookkeeper to lead our Finance and Corporate Services team in Johannesburg. As a strategic leader, you will provide comprehensive financial management, ensuring integrated, efficient, and compliant operations that meet the highest standards of governance and regulatory requirements. With over 10 years of experience, you will be responsible for overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and audit processes, as well as managing funding arrangements, working capital, and organisational financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to Finance and Corporate Services team
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and audit processes
  • Ensure compliance with PFMA, Treasury regulations, GRAP, the Companies Act, and governance best practices
  • Lead supply chain, asset management, ICT, and related support functions
  • Strengthen internal controls, risk management, payroll accuracy, and procurement compliance
  • Manage funding arrangements, working capital, and organisational financial sustainability

Requirements

  • Multi-entity accounting experience
  • Day-to-day management of the full accounting function
  • Completion of multicurrency bank reconciliations
  • Maintenance of Pastel ledgers to ensure accurate transaction reflection
  • Process online banking transactions across various platforms
  • Ensure FICA compliance and manage all required statutory filings
  • Perform underwriter supplier payments and bordereaux, including reconciliation of settlement funds

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years experience in senior or executive management roles
  • Strong capability in financial strategy, governance, compliance, and multi-functional leadership
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Bookkeeper to join our team in Edenvale, Johannesburg. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing statutory compliance, provident fund administration, and financial operations across our group of companies. With your expertise in maintaining accurate financial records in dynamic industries, we believe you can help us drive business success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, SDL, and UIF submissions.
  • Oversee provident fund contributions, reconciliations, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Handle general ledger entries, reconciliations, and trial balances.
  • Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
  • Assist in annual audits and ensure adherence to financial regulations.
  • Process payroll and related tax obligations.
  • Generate management reports on financial performance.
  • Collaborate with teams in logistics, security, and manufacturing to integrate financial data.
  • Implement internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.

Requirements

  • Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., SAIPA or equivalent) preferred.
  • At least 7 years of bookkeeping experience, with 3 years in a senior capacity.
  • Proven experience in logistics, security, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, with Sage Evolution experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African statutory requirements and tax laws.
  • Experience with provident fund management and payroll processing.

Qualifications

Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., SAIPA) preferred.
