About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Port Elizabeth. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the company’s accounts payable processes, including processing and verifying invoices, preparing and executing payments, maintaining vendor records, and reconciling transactions.
Key Responsibilities
• Validate, verify, post business transactions, and verify financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records
• Process payments, both manual and automatic check requests and wire payments
• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Clarify any questionable invoice items, prices, or receiving signatures
• Obtain proper information and/or data regarding invoice payments
• Assist during monthly closure – make sure that all payable invoices are registered into accounting system
• Handle and post administrational invoices
• Check various mail requests, statements, and communicate in a polite manner both with creditors and forwarders
Requirements
• 3-5 years of experience in accounting or Account Payable
• Experience with General Ledger (GL) and International accounting
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
• Detail-oriented, able to multitask, set priorities, and meet deadlines
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Analytical and mathematical skills
• General competence in IT and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Qualifications
• Degree in accounting or finance preferred
