Job Description
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Animal Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Extensive experience in dairy farming, including management roles
- Knowledge of Danish farming practices, technology, and animal welfare standards advantageous
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage a diverse team and foster a positive work environment
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in herd management software and record-keeping systems
- Understanding of budgeting and financial management advantageous
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in agriculture
- Maintenance and mechanically orientated
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Farm Management:
- Oversee all aspects of the dairy farm, including herd management, feeding, breeding, and health monitoring of Danish cows.
- Ensure compliance with Danish farming standards and implement efficient farming practices.
Animal Welfare:
- Ensure the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained at all times, including proper housing, feeding, and healthcare. Implement Danish animal welfare protocols and ensure adherence to them.
- Herd Health and Disease Prevention:
- Implement and monitor effective herd health programs, including vaccination schedules, regular check-ups, and disease prevention measures. Collaborate with veterinarians to maintain the health and well-being of the herd.
Milking Process and Milk Quality:
- Oversee the milking process, ensuring proper milking techniques, hygiene, and milk quality.
- Implement Danish milk quality standards and maintain accurate records.
Staff Management:
- Lead and motivate a team of farm staff, including herdsmen, milkers, and other farm workers.
- Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure a skilled and efficient workforce.
Equipment and Technology:
- Utilize Danish farming technology and equipment to optimize farm operations.
- Stay updated on technological advancements and recommend system improvements where necessary
Environmental Sustainability:
- Promote sustainable farming practices, such as waste management, water conservation, and responsible use of resources.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote a greener approach to farming.
