About the Role
The Area Vehicle Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Johannesburg branch, focusing on route optimization, resource allocation, and compliance with transportation regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics management and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize transportation routes to maximise efficiency and reduce costs.
- Coordinate the allocation of vehicles, drivers and equipment to meet operational demands.
- Monitor and adjust route plans based on real-time factors such as traffic, weather and road closures.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and oversee repairs when necessary.
- Act as the central point of contact for communication between the branch, drivers and customer.
- Collaborate with the Branch Manager and other Area Vehicle Managers to share best practices and address operational challenges.
- Provide timely updates to clients and internal teams on delivery status and any potential disruptions.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric Qualification non-negotiable.
- Diploma in Logistics Management or a related field an advantage.
- Proven experience in road freight and logistics management with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or coordination role.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
