About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will provide legal advice and support on a variety of legal matters, leveraging strong background in corporate law, contract negotiation, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of legal issues, including corporate governance, contract negotiation, compliance, and regulatory matters
- Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents
- Assist in the development and implementation of corporate policies and procedures
- Conduct legal research and keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company
- Manage and coordinate external legal counsel as needed
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure legal compliance and mitigate legal risks
- Represent the company in legal proceedings, negotiations, and meetings with external parties
- Stay informed about industry best practices and legal trends
Requirements
- LLB degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the state bar and in good standing
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, preferably in a corporate or in-house legal department
- Strong knowledge of corporate law, contract negotiation, and compliance
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
