About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Tool and Jig Maker to join our team in the Cape Winelands region. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality tools and jigs that meet our stringent quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain complex tooling and jig systems using manual machining equipment (lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines)
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to ensure accurate and precise production
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues and improve process efficiency
- Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment, adhering to quality and safety standards
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on manual machining equipment as needed
Requirements
- Trade Test as a Toolmaker / Jig and Die Maker
- 5 years proven experience in a steel fabrication or steel works manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Hands-on experience with manual machining equipment (lathes, milling machines, grinders, drilling machines)
- CNC exposure advantageous
- Solid understanding of steel materials, tolerances, and fabrication processes
Qualifications
- Formal education in a relevant field (e.g. National Diploma or Higher Certificate in Toolmaking or related)
