About the Role
Our client in Burgersfort, Mpumalanga is seeking Plant Operators to join their team in operating the plant safely and ensuring the smooth running of the plant to produce quality chrome.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend safety meeting every morning before shift starts.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures at all times.
- Maintain a clean work area through proper housekeeping during and after shifts.
- Work according to Standard Operating procedures (SOPs).
- Unblock inlet chute by using hand tools once plant has stopped.
- Unblock chokes on the pipes physically to ensure that feed continues.
- Read the indicators on the screen and report readings by radio to the Control room, hourly (tons/speed etc.).
- Observe the machines and listen for unfamiliar sounds to prevent downtime and damage and report as necessary.
- Check the running of the belt and feed and remove unwanted objects on the belt.
- Follow the Plant start up procedure.
- Liaise with the Control room and request that the belt is started and check alignments.
- Undertake risk assessment at the beginning of each shift and implement Stop, Look, Assess, Manage (SLAM).
- Check housekeeping and hazards and all indicated on the check list.
- Adhere to health and safety standards during execution of duties.
- Perform hand over at the end of the shift.
Requirements
- Working experience as a Plant operator in the mining environment for at least 2 years.
- Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
- Knowledge of Mining Regulations.
- Grade 12 (Preferred).
- In-house courses up to 3 weeks (Preferred).
- On-the-job training 3-9 months (Preferred).
