About the Role

The Process Manager is responsible for managing the Process Department to achieve production and quality targets, while ensuring a world-class manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to the Plant Manager and be part of the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuous Improvement: Improve factory buildings, equipment, materials, and processes to improve profit, productivity, safety, and quality.
  • Champion for the Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) within the plant, ensuring a CIP team is active within the plant.
  • Monitor projects against deliverables agreed by the CIP team.
  • Maintain the CIP log.
  • Provide monthly reports of achieved progress vs. target in CIP for management packs.
  • Plant Management: Ensure standard cycle times are maintained and updated for all production processes.
  • Develop Visual Work Instructions (WI) for all processes within the plant.
  • Maintain and update the WI archive within the plant quality system.
  • Ensure approved WIs are available for display in the plant.
  • Provide support for customer and internal sample and production trials.
  • Projects: Full management and support in product development and customer projects.
  • Manage equipment plans for incoming projects.
  • Investigate new technologies relevant to production processes within the plant.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to management.
  • Ensure current and future plant layout is available.
  • Manage implementation of any plant layout plans.
  • Customer Relations: Interact with internal and external customers in relation to process issues.
  • Supplier Relations: Interact with internal suppliers, including raw material suppliers, equipment suppliers, service providers, and contractors.
  • Manage suppliers in regard to new process development, monitoring delivery times, costs, and quality.
  • People Management: Coach and counsel employees to ensure improved and sustained performance levels.
  • Ensure discipline is maintained in the department, managing absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.
  • Resolve grievances & disputes.
  • Plan and provide for on-the-job training and multi-skilling of plant teams on a continuous basis.

Requirements

  • BTech / Degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (NQF 7)
  • 5+ years experience in a similar role
  • Experience in Automotive Manufacturing / Manufacturing environment
