About the Role

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join our growing insurance business in Johannesburg North as an Assistant Finance Manager. This role offers an opportunity to take ownership of the finance function and drive process improvements, providing actionable insights that inform business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts and provide clear, decision-focused commentary
  • Lead and mentor junior finance staff while ensuring day-to-day operational accuracy
  • Maintain strong financial controls and improve processes where gaps exist
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, including hands-on IFRS 17 reporting, VAT, CBR, and audits
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial analysis

Requirements

  • Qualified CA(SA) with 1 to 3 years post-articles experience
  • Hands-on experience with IFRS 17 reporting (not just training)
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and insurance operations
  • Experience leading junior staff and improving financial processes
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and ability to ask tough questions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Sage X3 experience advantageous
