About the Role
The Maintenance Planner role is a critical planning and coordination position within a heavy industrial/manufacturing environment, responsible for structured maintenance scheduling, reporting, asset control, and ERP system support.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and analyze shift production reports.
- Record machinery condition and root cause analysis of stoppages.
- Maintain daily maintenance logs.
- Keep a comprehensive and updated equipment register.
- Track spare parts requirements and special repair procedures.
- Record modifications and completed repairs.
- Prepare and manage electrical and mechanical maintenance schedules.
- Maintain records of scheduled, breakdown and shutdown maintenance.
- Issue and monitor standard work instructions.
- Circulate daily shutdown and job status reports (8am and 4pm).
- Compile monthly (every 5th) maintenance performance and trend analysis reports.
- Report on: Man-hours Maintenance costs Revenue loss due to downtime Critical spares under order Support implementation and optimization of ERP maintenance modules.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification (Engineering / Maintenance Planning preferred)
- Valid Code 8 Driver’s License
- Computer Literacy Certificate
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Maintenance Planning role
- Working knowledge of metallurgy, logistics and engineering disciplines
- Strong experience with computerized planned maintenance systems (CMMS / ERP)
