Title: Refrigeration Technician Area: Newcastle Industry: Commercial Refrigeration / Transport Refrigeration / Fleet Maintenance Ref No.: TRG 2461 Salary: Market related TCTC available/negotiable Start Date: ASAP Type: Permanent Special Instructions: Experience with transport refrigeration systems essential An opportunity exists for an experienced REFRIGERATION TECHNICIAN within a commercial truck workshop environment servicing transport refrigeration units used in cold-chain logistics and refrigerated fleet operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for installations, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on refrigeration systems fitted to commercial vehicles and trailers. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Installation of refrigeration units on commercial trucks and trailers Maintenance and servicing of refrigeration and cooling systems Fault finding and diagnostics on transport refrigeration equipment Repairs to freezer units, refrigerated trailers and meat transport coolers Servicing of truck air-conditioning systems Gas leak detection and refrigeration system pressure testing Replacement of compressors, condensers, evaporators and system components Electrical fault finding within refrigeration control systems Preventative maintenance and servicing schedules for fleet equipment Breakdown repairs and emergency call-outs when required Maintain accurate service records and compliance documentation EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: Grade 12 (Matric) Trade qualification in Refrigeration / HVAC advantageous Refrigeration gas handling certification advantageous Experience working with transport refrigeration systems Knowledge of truck refrigeration brands such as Thermo King, Carrier, or similar advantageous Experience with commercial air-conditioning systems Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills Experience in commercial truck workshop or fleet environment advantageous Valid drivers license Traceable & contactable references Local residency or relocation required
