About the Role
Our client, based in Elandsfontein, is currently looking to employ an experienced Supply Chain Shift Supervisor to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, supervising staff, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operation and Execution:
- Receiving to be verified and captured on SAP.
- Carry out daily checks to ensure voltage, cleanliness, and presentation of products are acceptable.
- Perform daily cycle counts.
- Support monthly stocktakes.
- Process SAV to seconds for damages or double-coded batteries.
- Identify and escalate slow-moving or obsolete stock on the floor.
- Manage the labelling process to minimise mistakes.
- Ensure all picking is scanned.
- Ensure daily dispatch according to delivery schedule and load report.
- Support local, SDA, and export dispatch and collections.
- Supervise and assist with the debriefing of all returning vehicles, ensuring timely and accurate offloading.
- Ensure daily rotations are completed.
- Ensure scrap is loaded timeously.
- Plan daily activities and workloads to ensure efficient workflow.
- Coordinate with other supervisors or managers to manage shifts, schedules, and employee rotations.
- Ensure proper handover between shifts, communicating important information or issues to the next shift supervisor.
- Assist in cycle counting, stocktaking, and maintaining records of inventory movements.
- Address discrepancies in inventory and report them to the warehouse manager.
- Communicate effectively with other departments, such as shipping, receiving, and customer service, to ensure smooth operations.
- Address customer-related issues or complaints during the shift and ensure timely resolution.
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and safety.
- Collaborate with other supervisors and managers to develop and implement warehouse best practices.
- People Management:
- Ensure ongoing training and development of employees.
- Address employee relations matters fairly and promptly.
- Sign off weekly and monthly payroll.
- Manage staff according to standard operational procedures.
- Manage staff leave requirements.
- Address corrective actions as needed.
- Report employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, and support to ensure high productivity.
- Train new employees on warehouse operations, safety procedures, and company policies.
- Conduct ongoing training sessions to improve team skills and knowledge of warehouse equipment and technology.
- Identify opportunities for employee development and recommend training programs.
- Respond to and resolve conflicts or issues among team members promptly and professionally.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
- Identify and report risks or areas of concern.
- Maintain LOS and manage FIFO.
- Promote health and safety awareness and address unsafe practices promptly.
- Ensure low-voltage stock is escalated and moved for charging.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping within the warehouse.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes and procedures to minimise errors and damages.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Investigate and report any accidents, incidents, or near misses and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Warehouse Management (advantageous).
- NQF 5 (minimum) level of experience required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or supply chain supervisory role within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and transport coordination.
- SAP system experience essential.
