Job Description

About the Role

The Technical Sales Representative will join an established construction materials manufacturer known for delivering reliable structural solutions to the building industry. The company supports a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects, working closely with contractors and developers to ensure quality and efficiency at every stage. This role plays a key part in strengthening client relationships, providing technical guidance, and contributing to the successful planning and delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist walk-in, telephonic, and email customers with product selection and quotations
  • Provide technical guidance on structural and slab-related products
  • Prepare, issue, and follow up on quotations
  • Build and maintain relationships with contractors, builders, and retail clients
  • Process orders and maintain effective customer communication
  • Assist with slab layout drawings and quantity calculations
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings
  • Provide basic technical advice on slab systems and installation requirements
  • Collaborate with the Division Manager on project planning and technical queries
  • Support production planning and scheduling
  • Liaise with factory and installation teams regarding order specifications
  • Ensure technical accuracy of orders prior to production
  • Monitor order progress and communicate timelines to customers
  • Conduct site visits for measurements and technical verification when required
  • Maintain accurate job records, pricing updates, and sales reporting

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Structural Engineering, Building or Construction Technology, Draughting, or a related technical certificate or diploma
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in construction, technical sales, or a related industry
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings
  • Exposure to structural or concrete-related products (advantageous)
  • Strong numeracy and quantity calculation ability
  • Computer literacy in Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • CAD or slab design software experience (advantageous)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel to local sites when required
  • Proficiency in English (read, write, and speak)
  • Basic understanding of isiZulu and Afrikaans (advantageous)
