Job Description

Minimum requirements for the role: A tertiary qualification in a production, technical or chemically related discipline is required for this role. Previous experience having worked within a production management role within a manufacturing environment is essential for the role. Previous experience managing a team of Production Staff is essential. Must be able to implement and drive processes and procedures. Must have extensive understanding of On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) manufacturing. Previous experience handling a unionised workforce is an added advantage. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Strategically managing and overseeing the smooth operation of all coatings and related production for the company. Managing, overseeing, directing and driving staff and production efficiencies, quality and quantity specifications, ensuring that production KPIs are met. Managing and overseeing production scheduling and planning to run a safe and efficient production area. Assisting in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and practices to ensure efficient use of time and resources. Managing production schedules to improve efficiencies. Determining raw material requirements for production on a daily basis. Facilitating good lines of communication between the laboratory and production departments. Ensuring that production is planned in terms of raw material requirements, resource requirements and deadlines before commencing with production. Managing and ensuring that finished products and packaging were of the highest order. Advising and communicating product-related issues to the technical manager and assisting with finding solutions. Ensuring that production timelines and deadlines are adhered to, and that deadlines which may be missed are communicated to all departments timeously. Developing and implementing standard operating procedures (sops) in terms of stock management to ensure efficient use and optimal storage of stock. Implementing and developing stock holding schedules in terms of fast-moving goods and minimum stock holding levels. Determining minimum and maximum levels of raw material and packing material requirements to be kept on hand for production. Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
