FINANCE MANAGER PRIVATE HOSPITAL

Department: Finance
Reporting To: Hospital Manager
Closing Date: 25 February 2026

Role Summary

The Finance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the timely, accurate processing and reporting of the hospitals financial information through the implementation of effective financial processes, controls, and schedules.

The role includes responsibility for monthly accounting reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting, management reporting, and strategic financial planning. The incumbent will also oversee financial systems, ensure compliance with statutory requirements, prepare detailed financial reports, and provide strong financial leadership to support operational and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting and reconciliations

  • Prepare, manage, and submit budgets and forecasts

  • Produce comprehensive financial and management reports

  • Oversee financial systems and ensure accurate accounting records

  • Conduct financial analysis and provide actionable insights

  • Support system implementations and improvements where required

  • Ensure compliance with South African tax and statutory requirements

  • Implement and monitor internal controls and financial risk management

  • Lead, manage, and develop the finance team

Education & Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (NQF Level 4)

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • Professional qualification (CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent) advantageous

Work Experience

  • Minimum 35 years experience in financial management

  • Proven experience leading and developing finance teams

  • Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting

  • Demonstrated experience in monthly financial reporting and reconciliations

  • Experience within a private hospital environment will be advantageous

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and financial software

  • SAP experience will be advantageous

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and reporting standards

  • Preparation and interpretation of financial statements and management accounts

  • Budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management

  • Financial and variance analysis, cost control techniques

  • South African taxation (Income Tax, VAT, PAYE) and SARS compliance

  • Knowledge of the Companies Act and corporate governance principles

  • Internal controls, audit processes, and financial risk management

  • Experience with ERP systems and financial platforms

  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
