About the Role
Network Contracting is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our engineering and maintenance team in ensuring optimal plant performance for our paper and packaging industry operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives, managing capital projects, and collaborating with production and quality teams to minimize downtime and improve output.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the engineering and maintenance team to ensure optimal plant performance
- Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (lean manufacturing, cost reduction, efficiency improvements)
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards
- Manage capital projects, including equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning
- Oversee maintenance budgets, resource allocation, and contractor management
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to minimise downtime and improve output
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards (e.g., OHSA, ISO standards)
- Implement asset management systems and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) – advantageous
- Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (paper, pulp, or packaging preferred)
- At least 3–5 years in a management role
- Strong knowledge of plant maintenance, reliability engineering, and asset management systems
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
