About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to join our luxury five-star hotel in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing and implementing marketing strategies, and leading a high-performing sales team.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and forecast hotel revenue from rooms, F&B outlets, and various segments
- Create a work environment that fosters employee morale, learning, and development
- Develop systems and procedures to achieve higher cost efficiency and guest satisfaction
- Recruit, manage, and appraise staff in the department
- Develop and implement the annual plan using the TBEM framework
- Assist in developing the overall strategic direction for the hotel’s relaunch and growth
- Prepare forecasting tools and strategies to visualize market scenarios and develop long-range plans
- Measure program effectiveness and track trends in local and global markets
- Build accurate databases of current and potential guests/accounts
- Maintain up-to-date information on competition’s performance, sales, and marketing strategy
- Propose room/F&B pricing strategies based on hotel positioning, target customers, and desired mix
- Develop comprehensive market mix guidelines and ensure sales meet targets
- Identify key customer needs through formal research, surveys, sales calls, and meetings
- Implement revenue management techniques to improve RevPAR
- Coordinate with Front Office and F&B Managers on daily sales, VIPs, regulars, and guest requirements
- Coordinate with Credits Manager on credit limits and outstanding from various guests/corporate
- Build relationships, network, and maintain contacts with corporate and individual customers, bookers, media, hoteliers, and socialites
- Determine, design, and prioritize sales and marketing activities to achieve revenue/profit targets
- Control the hotel’s distribution channels to ensure timely, relevant, and exciting information reaches its intended audience
- Identify key communities and plan various initiatives and coordinate support activities
- Ensure safe working practices and adherence to Health & Safety directives
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of sales experience in the travel/tourism/hotel industry
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Certificate or Diploma in Sales & Marketing or Hotel Management
- Valid Drivers Licence and vehicle for day-to-day travel/appointments
- Fluency in English (additional language skills advantageous)
