Johannesburg: Demand Planner (Supply Chain and Inventory)

Job Description

Were looking for a detail-driven Demand Planner to take ownership of forecasting, stock planning, and supply chain analysis across a growing cosmetics business. This is a desk-based, analytical role focused on ensuring the business consistently has the right stock in the right placesupporting 24 retail stores, as well as factory production and procurement planning. Key Responsibilities Demand Forecasting & Planning – Analyse historical sales data and trends to forecast product demand – Develop and maintain accurate demand plans across all stores – Adjust forecasts based on seasonality, promotions, and market trends Inventory Planning – Plan optimal stock levels across 24 retail stores – Ensure fast-moving products are consistently available – Identify slow-moving or excess stock and recommend corrective actions Production & Supply Planning – Translate demand forecasts into production requirements – Ensure availability of raw materials and packaging for the factory – Align closely with procurement to support accurate purchasing decisions Data Analysis & Reporting – Monitor sales performance, stock levels, and forecast accuracy – Identify risks such as potential stock shortages or overstocking – Prepare weekly and monthly reports with insights and recommendations Cross-Functional Coordination – Work closely with stores, procurement, and production teams – Communicate demand changes, risks, and planning adjustments – Support continuous improvement in planning processes What Success Looks Like – High forecast accuracy – Strong stock availability across all stores – Reduced slow-moving and obsolete stock – Improved alignment between sales, production, and procurement What Were Looking For – Experience in demand planning, inventory planning, or supply chain analysis – Background in FMCG, retail, or cosmetics preferred – Strong Excel skills (essential) and analytical capability – Experience working with sales data, forecasting, and planning tools – High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving mindset Working Style Youre analytical, organised, and comfortable working with data. You enjoy identifying patterns, solving problems, and making recommendations that improve business performance. Youre collaborative, but equally confident working independently in a fast-paced environment.
