Overview
A well-established manufacturing operation in the Eastern Cape is seeking a qualified and experienced Fitter and Turner to join its Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining mechanical equipment and ensuring optimal plant performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and planned maintenance as per job cards and instructions
- Attend to breakdowns and carry out repairs on mechanical equipment
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment reliability and availability
- Participate in maintenance planning, shutdowns, and execution of plant work
- Assist with equipment upgrades and refurbishment to maintain performance standards
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements at all times
- Provide shift relief, overtime, and standby support when required
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Trade Tested Fitter and Turner
- Minimum N3 in Mechanical Engineering
- At least 5 years post-trade test experience in a similar role
Skills and Competencies
- Strong fitting and turning skills
- Good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Basic welding ability
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
