About the Role

The Factory Manager will be responsible for leading and managing end-to-end factory operations in Cape Town City Centre, ensuring consistent achievement of production schedules and output targets. This is an excellent opportunity to drive continuous improvement initiatives, optimize productivity, and promote a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage end-to-end factory operations, including fabrication, machining, assembly, and finishing
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and reduce waste
  • Maintain and enforce quality standards and compliance across all processes
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and promote a strong safety culture
  • Develop, mentor, and manage supervisors and production teams
  • Collaborate with engineering, sales, and procurement to ensure operational alignment
  • Monitor KPIs and production performance, implementing corrective actions where required

Requirements

  • Minimum N5 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or higher)
  • Proven experience within heavy industrial or manufacturing environments (e.g. compressors, pumps, turbines, HVAC, refrigeration)
  • Strong machining and fabrication knowledge
  • Experience managing production teams and factory operations
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and operational efficiencies

About the Role

As the Factory Manager, you will ensure that all products are manufactured correctly, on time and within cost, by controlling factory operations, planning, quality and resources. The role protects the business by ensuring right-first-time workmanship, reliable production output, controlled manufacturing cost, disciplined factory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all jobs are clearly understood before manufacturing (drawings, specs, job cards)
  • Plan and coordinate production (sequence, capacity, priorities)
  • Control quality through in-process checks and final sign-off
  • Manage time vs allowed time per job and implement improvements
  • Control stock, materials and store processes
  • Ensure machines, tools and equipment are properly used and maintained
  • Enforce discipline, accountability and work standards in the team
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
  • Maintain structured reporting and communication with management
  • Support training and development of factory staff
