About the Role
The Assistant Accounting Manager position is an excellent opportunity to join a stable manufacturing business and play a key role in supporting financial operations while gaining further management exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring that the ERP system is accurate and up to date
- Reviewing monthly reconciliations for debtors, creditors, and bank accounts
- Maintaining debtors records and actively following up on overdue payments
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Supporting compliance with tax legislation and statutory reporting requirements
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Supporting external audits, SARS audits, and B-BBEE audits
- Loading month-end and ad hoc payments
- Processing and loading import payments (LC, DA, and DP)
- Reviewing and supervising the capturing of import purchases and export sales
- Creating pro forma and commercial invoices, capturing clearing instructions, and completing SADC certificates for export sales
- Assisting with and supervising the maintenance of inventory records
- Managing petty cash
- Training, supporting, and guiding junior accounting staff
- Capturing and maintaining customer orders
Requirements
- BCom Accounting degree (or similar qualification)
- Advanced Excel skills (Microsoft Office)
- 35 years relevant accounting experience, including some team supervision or management exposure
- Experience working with SAP, Sage, or similar ERP systems
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
