SCRAPYARD SUPERVISOR

Location: Cape Town, Kuils Rivier
Role Purpose:
The Scrapyard Supervisor will oversee, coordinate and manage daily scrapyard operations, ensuring work is executed safely, accurately, and efficiently. This includes supervising yard employees, scheduling activities, and ensuring quality standards and productivity targets are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily scrapyard activities and yard staff.
- Allocate tasks, schedule shifts and manage yard workflow.
- Ensure all scrap is sorted, processed and stored according to company standards.
- Oversee machinery use, housekeeping, safety compliance and material handling.
- Inspect scrap material quality and report deviations.
- Coordinate with weighbridge, production and procurement teams.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and meets operational deadlines.
- Conduct toolbox talks and enforce yard rules and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate yard records, reports and logs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 35 years’ experience in scrapyard / recycling / industrial operations.
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of scrap types, handling processes and yard machinery.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, heavy-industry environment.
- High safety awareness and strong organizational skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to manage diverse teams.
