Job Description
Change & Release Specialist available in Sandton. The role will require responsibility for planning, coordinating, and executing software changes and releases in accordance with ITIL 4 best practices. The role focuses on minimising service disruptions, ensuring reliable deployments, and managing cloud-based CI/CD pipelines, particularly in Azure environments. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to security and compliance standards are key components of this role.
Duties
- Change Enablement: Plan and coordinate changes to minimise service disruptions.
- Release Management: Execute reliable software releases into production.
- Deployment Coordination: Manage cloud deployments and automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Pre-Production Environment Management: Ensure pre-production environments are stable and aligned with production.
- Monitoring & Observability: Implement monitoring and logging practices for post-deployment validation.
- Security & Compliance: Integrate security scanning (e.g., Snyk, Trivy, SonarQube) and enforce compliance (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain release notes, deployment instructions, and performance metrics.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with stakeholders to refine requirements and drive adoption of solutions.
- Personal Productivity: Demonstrate organizational skills, time management, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Experience with ITIL 4 best practices for change and release management.
- Expertise in cloud deployments and CI/CD pipelines, preferably in Azure.
- Familiarity with release management tools (e.g., Jira, GitLab, Jenkins).
- Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
- Solid knowledge of networking (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers).
- Experience with monitoring/logging platforms and observability practices.
- Understanding of security practices and DevSecOps tooling.
- Basic understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Analytical mindset for data-driven decision-making.
- ITIL Foundation certification or relevant experience preferred.
