Job Summary
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with 10+ years of expertise in the oil, gas, and construction sectors. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in the design, planning, and execution of civil engineering projects within the oil and gas industry. This position is based in Saudi Arabia, and the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the civil engineering aspects of large-scale projects, ensuring that all civil works are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage civil engineering aspects of oil, gas, and construction projects, including the design, construction, and maintenance of infrastructure such as roads, foundations, pipelines, drainage systems, and buildings.
- Develop, review, and approve civil engineering designs, drawings, and calculations to ensure compliance with project specifications, standards, and regulations.
- Perform site inspections and assessments to ensure that civil works are executed according to approved plans and specifications, and manage any site-specific challenges.
- Coordinate with project managers, structural engineers, and other technical disciplines to ensure integration and compliance of civil engineering work with other project components.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine project requirements and ensure that designs are practical and suitable for the site`s conditions.
- Oversee the construction of civil works, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Develop and manage project schedules, ensuring that civil works are completed on time and in accordance with project deadlines.
- Monitor project costs, control expenditures, and ensure that the civil engineering work is completed within budget.
- Liaise with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to procure materials and resources for civil works and ensure they meet quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, including environmental laws, safety regulations, and building codes specific to Saudi Arabia or the Middle East.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and site staff, mentoring them in civil engineering practices and safety protocols.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documents, specifications, and technical reports.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential challenges in civil works and recommend solutions to mitigate these risks.
- Oversee the quality control processes for civil works, ensuring that materials, workmanship, and final output adhere to project and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor the performance of civil structures throughout the lifecycle of the project, including maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
- Prepare and deliver progress reports to clients, project managers, and other stakeholders on the status of civil engineering works, highlighting any issues or delays.
- Collaborate with environmental engineers, geotechnical engineers, and other specialists to ensure that the civil infrastructure is sustainable and resilient.
- Participate in project meetings, review project plans, and assist in decision-making processes to address engineering challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in civil engineering with a focus on oil, gas, and construction projects.
- Strong experience in the design and execution of civil engineering works, including foundations, roads, drainage systems, and structural infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of civil engineering design codes and standards (e.g., ACI, BS, Eurocode, ASTM, etc.) and the ability to apply them in project execution.
- Proficient in civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD Pro, MS Project, or similar tools).
- Experience with geotechnical assessments, soil analysis, and foundation design is essential.
- Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations in the oil, gas, and construction industries, particularly in the Middle East.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage teams, contractors, and multiple stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale construction projects, delivering them on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with clients, senior management, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to site-specific challenges.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies on civil engineering works.
- Knowledge of local Saudi Arabian regulations and construction codes is highly desirable.
Preferred Skills:
- Professional certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, PMP, or similar).
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and 3D modeling in civil engineering.
- Previous experience working on oil and gas projects in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East.
- Fluency in Arabic is an advantage.
