Hire Resolve is currently seeking a qualified Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join our client in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to construction projects, from initial calculations to the final figures, ensuring that the project remains within budget. This position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
Monitor project progress and analyze variances from the budget
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments
Negotiate contracts and manage claims disputes
Prepare progress reports and financial forecasts
Collaborate with project managers and other professionals to ensure project success
Provide advice on contractual and financial matters throughout the project lifecycle
Requitements:
BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in the construction industry
Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong understanding of construction contracts and local regulations
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Review procurement documents, bills of quantities, payment certificates, professional fee claims, and cost reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the projects objectives.
Monitoring Cost Reports: Regularly update on contractor and professional fee cash flows, payment certificates, and cost reports.
Monitor contractor and consultant performance, providing detailed reports on cash flow, project progress, and financial performance
Advising on QS Matters: Provide expert quantity surveying advice and technical support to the project team.
Administer QS processes including invoicing, payment certificates, and final accounts, ensuring smooth and accurate financial tracking
Final Account Review & Tendering: Ensure that final accounts are in order and tender documents meet the required standards.
Provide QS advice and technical support across all stages of the project.
Oversee and manage project cash flows, ensuring effective financial management and risk mitigation
Conduct professional reviews on project stages, assessing progress and providing guidance to ensure projects stay on track.
Qualifications:
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably with experience in large-scale government or healthcare projects.
SACQSP registration is preferred but not essential we value practical experience and results.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of cost management, cost reporting, contract administration, and all aspects of quantity surveying processes.
Project Management Skills: Ability to manage a variety of tasks, teams, and stakeholders while adhering to tight schedules and budgets.
Attention to Detail: Ability to review documents with precision, ensuring accuracy in every detail.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with project teams, contractors, and clients effectively.
Experience in procurement documents, bills of quantities, payment certificates, professional fee claims, and cost reports, contract instructions and final accounts.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to find effective solutions under pressure
Ability to work independently, make sound decisions and manage multiple tasks without constant supervision.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate ideas, provide comprehensive reports, and collaborate with stakeholders

Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects
Manage and monitor project budgets to ensure financial efficiency
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to provide accurate financial data
Analyze tenders and contracts, advising on potential risks and opportunities
Oversee the final account processes, including cost reconciliation
Ensure compliance with the clients` and industry standards
Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders
Negotiate contracts and variations with subcontractors and suppliers
Assist in the procurement process and develop effective procurement strategies
Requirements:
Bachelor`s degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
Minimum of 4 years` experience in quantity surveying, preferably within the construction sector

Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
Monitor and control project expenditures, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and value management exercises.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Prepare tender documents, including bills of quantities and contract documents.
Negotiate contracts and prices with suppliers and subcontractors.

Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit accurate cost estimates for solar projects
Analyze project specifications and develop cost-effective solutions
Work as part of a team to ensure that the requirements of the client are delivered.
Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines
Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction phase

Responsibilities:
Managing costs on a wide variety of new and existing building projects and structures, such as residential developments, sports stadiums, roads and bridges, schools, hospitals, offices, factories and commercial properties.
Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.
Assisting in establishing a client`s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
Performing risk and value management, cost control and value engineering.
Advising on procurement strategy, contract documentation and financial control.
Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, returnable schedules and Preliminaries & General.
Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks.
Preparing and analysing costing for tenders, tender evaluation, tender adjudication and appointment of contractors and/or sub-contractors.
Allocating work to subcontractors.
Providing advice on contractual claims, variation orders, site instructions, escalation and final accounts.
Analysing outcomes and writing detailed inception-,progress-, preliminary design-, final design reports. Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
Assisting the Bids Department with write-ups to be used for tender purposes for future QS work.
Calculation of escalation, penalties, monthly payment certificates and the reconciliation of the final account and close-out report.
Preparation of monthly cost reports / financial reports on projects.
Measurement of rentable areas.
Cash-flows.
Targeted procurement including training and monitoring.

The successful incumbent for this position will be responsible for:
Doing estimates
Measuring Quantities from plans to compile BOQs
Preparing tender documentation
Preparing valuations
Measuring and agreeing to final accounts
Project Management
Quality Assurance
Multi-disciplinary services co-ordination
Team co-ordination
Oversee projects as needed
Liaising with clients and other stakeholders
Key
Requirements:
Analytical thinker with proven problem solving
Manage and prioritize complex tasks
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Competency in mathematical and accounting principles
Reports, feasibility studies and cost analyses of processes
Manage multiple projects at the same time
Excellent construction- and general project management skills
Be able and willing to mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors
Sound knowledge of the JBCC and other relevant building contracts
