Job Description
- Practical farm management background with at least 4 years’ experience in a senior position
- Good understanding and experience of farm maintenance including electric game fencing,
- gravel road management, bore holes, basic understanding of solar and land management.
- Experience managing a lucerne production system.
- Excellent people management skills with a focus on training and development
- Team player able to turn their hand to multitude of tasks.
- Wildlife and hospitality experience is desirable but not essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Oversee the Reserve Team on a day-to-day basis including setting work schedule, managing.
- leave cycles and managing HR issues.
- Managing the fence line including co-ordinating regular permitter checks, managing repairs
- and planning ongoing maintenance
- Managing road maintenance including planning regular road maintenance, co-ordinating
- larger maintenance projects, and co-ordinating with the guide team to tackle problem areas.
- Responsibility for the Lodge and Staff village water supply including daily checks on
- reservoirs, managing regular maintenance, and troubleshooting issues.
- Managing lucerne production and irrigation
- Overseeing projects on the reserve including erosion control, alien invasive removal, dam
- repairs and spekboom planting
- Managing the radio system including regular maintenance of repeater, managing issuing of
- radios to lodge and reserve team and troubleshooting issues.
- Working closely with the maintenance manger to manage the reserve fleet of vehicles and
- machinery
- Overseeing procurement for the reserve in line with the company’s procurement policy
- Working closely with the lodge team to ensure a high-quality guest experience
