Job Description

Hire Resolves client in the Trade & Technical industry is urgently seeking a Meat Equipment Technician in Bloemfontein.

Responsibilities:

Perform regular maintenance and servicing of meat processing equipment, including band saws, mincers, sausage fillers, and blenders.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical faults on meat processing machinery.
Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) to ensure equipment operates efficiently and minimize downtime.
Install, calibrate, and set up new meat processing equipment.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain high hygiene standards in all maintenance activities.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Assist with the commissioning and decommissioning of machinery during plant shutdowns or new equipment installations.
Perform emergency repairs during equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
Work closely with production teams to resolve equipment-related issues and optimize performance.
Monitor the performance of machinery and recommend upgrades or replacements when necessary.
Ensure that spare parts and tools are available and maintain proper stock levels.
Adhere to food safety and quality assurance protocols while handling and maintaining meat processing equipment.
Support with machinery installations and relocations, ensuring proper setup and functionality.
Follow maintenance schedules and provide detailed reports to management on equipment status and improvements.

Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Meat Equipment Technician or in a similar role within the food processing industry.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Experience with meat processing equipment such as band saws, sausage fillers, mincers, and blenders.
Knowledge of PLC systems and variable speed drives (VSDs) used in meat processing equipment.
Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations within the meat processing industry.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Certification or qualification in a related field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar).
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends or shift work, as required.
Valid drivers license (if required for site visits or transporting equipment).
Knowledge of health and safety procedures in industrial settings.
