Job Description

Process payroll account transactions (e.g. salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third-party payments). Processing of payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, increases) and system upgrades. Manage shifts on Time and Attendance system for payment of staff and calculate shifts owing. Calculate overtime and short time. Analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies, or other departments in the organization. Collaborate with Human Resources and accounting teams. Maintain accurate records. Research, analyses and solve payroll related queries. Leave recons on termination and on request. Weekly and monthly clocking recons. Responsible for gathering time records from employees and calculating hours worked and pay received for each employee accurately. Responsible for ensuring that time records are accurate and that any inconsistencies or errors are resolved. Transmit payments to employees in a timely and accurate manner. Answer any questions that employees might have about payment and work to resolve any payment issues that arise. Process and maintain records of regular deductions from employee payments. This can include garnishing, traffic fines, PPE, medical aid and other deductions. Maintains payroll information by accurately inputting data on the system. Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests. Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures. Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential. Strengthening team collaboration and assisting management in keeping to deadlines. Matric / Senior Certificate. Relevant payroll / HR qualification – advantageous. A minimum of 3 years payroll experience (SAGE People). Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system. Excellent financial analytical skills. Experience in working on excel spreadsheets. Experience in and knowledge on time & attendance software. Knowledge of provisions of Basic Conditions of Employment Act. Statutory and legislative requirements in respect of PAYE, UIF, Workmans compensation.
