About the Role
The SHE Manager is responsible for ensuring the implementation and maintenance of our Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system, in accordance with OHSAS 18001 standards. This role requires strong leadership and technical skills to manage and improve our OHS programs, while also ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on performance of the OHS management system
- Assist with risk assessments and incident investigations as required
- Review and recommend changes to ensure OHS programs remain effective
- Liaise with accreditation authorities as necessary
- Conduct spot checks on premises to verify safety compliances
- Investigate and report on security incidents
- Recommend improvements to management and select suitable suppliers to implement approved improvements
- Implement recommendations to prevent or mitigate future losses
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety and Environment Engineering (OHSA 18001 or NOSA qualification) or equivalent
- ISO 14001 qualification for environmental job functions
- Qualified systems auditor
- Knowledge of BEEA, LRA, environmental and occupational health and safety legislation
- At least 10 years of experience in all aspects of occupational health and safety
Qualifications
- Degree/diploma in Safety and Environment Engineering (OHSA 18001 or NOSA qualification)
- ISO 14001 qualification for environmental job functions

- Various Security personnel
Relationships of the Job
Significant internal relationships include daily interactions with all HODs on HR, quality, safety, health and environmental issues, as well as preparation of safety files for sales team at client sites. The jobholder also interacts regularly with Labour Inspectors, SABS, customers and suppliers on quality issues, BBBEE consultants and auditors, and MERSETA on skills development issues.
