Cape Town City Centre: Aerospace Systems Engineer – Somerset West

The successful candidate will lead system design and requirements activities across aerospace-related projects, collaborating closely with project managers and multidisciplinary development and testing teams. Key Responsibilities Structure and implement systems engineering processes tailored to rocket and missile systems. Lead a team of technical specialists across disciplines. Identify system-level requirements and technical risks. Perform functional decomposition and define interfaces between system elements. Allocate requirements to subsystems and interfaces. Develop and evaluate solution concepts through trade-off studies. Define verification and validation strategies. Conduct Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (FMECA). Facilitate design and requirements reviews. Create and maintain systems engineering documentation and databases. Minimum Requirements BSc in Engineering; postgraduate qualification in Aeronautical Engineering is advantageous. Minimum of 5 years of experience in an aerospace or related engineering environment. Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and the ability to adapt international standards to project-specific needs. Experience in system-level design and integration. Proficiency in modern systems engineering software platforms (or willingness to learn). Excellent communication skillsboth verbal and written. Proven time management skills with the ability to manage multiple systems/subsystems. A collaborative team player who is also capable of working independently.
