Cape Town City Centre: Credit Control Supervisor/Manager

Job Description

A well-established international FMCG company with operations in South Africa is seeking an experienced Credit Control Manager / Supervisor to join its Finance team at Head Office in Cape Town. This role is responsible for overseeing the credit control function, ensuring effective debt collection, managing customer accounts, and supporting strong cash flow management. The successful candidate will also lead a team of credit controllers while maintaining strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Manage and oversee the credit control function and team of credit controllers Ensure timely collection of outstanding debt and effective management of accounts receivable Resolve customer queries including returns, shortages, pricing claims, rebates and promotions Conduct reconciliations of key customer accounts Monitor and review credit limits for new and existing customers Manage the order hold list and release decisions Oversee month-end procedures , including statements and debt letters Prepare and review over 60-day outstanding reports Support cashflow forecasting through accurate reporting on AR balances and collections Assist with year-end statutory audits Ensure compliance with South African credit regulations and the National Credit Act Identify opportunities to improve internal processes and systems (including SAP improvements) Requirements Minimum 5 years’ experience in Credit Control within FMCG Experience managing or supervising a team Strong understanding of national retail accounts (e.g., major grocery retailers) Solid knowledge of credit regulations and the National Credit Act Strong SAP and Excel skills Excellent communication and relationship management skills Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities Personal Attributes Highly organised with strong analytical skills Able to communicate effectively with both customers and internal stakeholders Confident in managing conflict and resolving disputes professionally Proactive, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment Why Join This role offers the opportunity to join a globally recognised FMCG business with a strong brand presence and collaborative team culture, providing exposure to major national retail accounts and an established finance function.
