Location: Cape Town Industry: Logistics / Freight Forwarding Experience Level: Export documentation experience required Company Overview A well-established logistics provider specialising in export operations across ocean, air, and road freight. The business manages high-volume export shipments and works closely with shipping lines, port authorities, clearing agents, and internal operational teams to ensure compliant and on-time cargo movement. Role Overview The Export Documentation Controller is responsible for the accurate preparation, verification, and submission of all export documentation. This role plays a critical part in ensuring shipments move smoothly through ports and regulatory processes, with full compliance to customer, carrier, and statutory requirements. The role suits someone detail-oriented, process-driven, and experienced in export documentation within a freight forwarding or shipping environment. Key Responsibilities Prepare and process all export documentation in line with client, carrier, and regulatory requirements. Compile and verify shipping instructions, bills of lading, manifests, and related export documents. Ensure accuracy of shipment details including vessel, container numbers, weights, destinations, and consignee information. Liaise with shipping lines, clearing agents, and internal operations teams to resolve documentation queries. Ensure documentation deadlines are met in line with vessel cut-offs and port requirements. Manage amendments and corrections to export documents where required. Maintain accurate filing and record-keeping on internal systems. Support compliance with customs, port, and export control requirements. Communicate documentation status updates to internal teams and relevant stakeholders. Requirements Proven experience in export documentation within a freight forwarding or shipping environment. Strong understanding of export documentation processes and shipping terminology. Experience working with shipping lines and port-related documentation requirements. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines simultaneously.
