About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to join our team in Cape Town City Centre, working remotely for a company that specializes in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure and services. As a key member of our SRE team, you will drive reliability and scalability across production environments by implementing monitoring, automation, and DevOps practices on GCP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of SRE engineers with a minimum of 3 years in a management or leadership capacity.
  • Act as the technical authority on SRE practices for GCP to ensure system reliability and uptime.
  • Design, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GCP-native tools and industry standards.
  • Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools such as Terraform or Deployment Manager.
  • Drive monitoring and observability initiatives leveraging tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and Stackdriver.
  • Troubleshoot complex production incidents to ensure root cause analysis and long-term fixes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent platform performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years in a management/leadership capacity within SRE/DevOps teams.
  • Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience working on GCP infrastructure and services.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Deployment Manager.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or Shell.
  • UNIX/Linux administration expertise.

Qualifications

  • Google Cloud certifications such as Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect are highly advantageous.

Salary & Benefits

  • R135 000 – R145 000 per annum
