About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Sales Engineer to join our team in Cape Town City Centre, responsible for driving sales growth and delivering exceptional customer experiences within the fruit and vegetable industry.

Key Responsibilities

Identify, prospect, and engage potential customers within the fruit and vegetable industry
Develop and execute sales plans to grow market share
Present and demonstrate machinery capabilities and full packing line solutions
Lead negotiations and close sales agreements and contracts
Understand customer production requirements and technical challenges
Compile detailed project specifications, including technical layouts, proposals, and quotations
Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
Handle customer enquiries, objections, and technical discussions professionally
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, machinery, and industry trends
Provide market and customer feedback to support product development and continuous improvement

Requirements

Strong understanding of mechanical systems, automated packing solutions, and industrial equipment
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Knowledge of fruit and vegetable packhouse operations and workflows
Proven ability to apply a solution-based sales approach and close deals
Strong negotiation, reporting, and commercial awareness
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Good planning, organisation, and time management abilities
Ability to manage multiple opportunities and prioritise effectively
Analytical mindset with the ability to address initial technical queries

Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Agribusiness Management, or Sales and Marketing with strong technical aptitude
Understanding of packhouse operations is advantageous
Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel nationally
Willingness to travel internationally when required
Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment (office and field)
