About the Role
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking a Senior Hybrid Energy Engineer to join their team in Cape Town, coordinating battery and hybrid projects, providing support to the Hybrid team, and overseeing project tasks from initiation to completion. The role involves identifying opportunities for optimization and refinement within the team’s projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve technical documents for environmental approvals, project appeals, and site selection.
- Conduct and report on site visits.
- Perform technical due diligence on prospective project acquisitions.
- Provide strategic input on development and business strategies.
- Develop and review yield and cost estimations.
- Contribute to writing technical methods and procedures.
- Analyse tender rules and contracts.
- Optimize hybrid system sizing and augmentation strategies.
- Conduct dispatch modelling and optimize LCOS and LCOE.
- Define performance metrics and lead renewables forecasting trials.
- Interface with technical, development, legal, and finance teams.
- Support procurement teams in contract negotiations.
- Ensure compliant bid returnable.
- Support final design interrogation, construction, commissioning, and performance monitoring.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or Computer Sciences required.
- Master’s and PhD degrees beneficial.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in the Renewables Energies industry.
- Experience with Homer, Plexos, Pypsa, or similar optimization modelling tools.
- Strong technical understanding of batteries and hybrid projects.
- Proficiency in Python and MS 365 Office.
- Knowledge of Windpro, Autocad, Pvsyst, and other relevant software desirable.
- Statistical or data science background preferred.
