About the Role

We are seeking a talented and technically skilled Junior Interior Designer to join our Store Design & Visual Merchandise team at Lumina Personnel in Bellville, Cape Town. As a leading interior concept business, we provide high-end architectural design furniture, fabrics, textiles, and luxury homeware. Our ideal candidate will help shape and evolve our retail spaces, bringing their expertise in retail environments, customer flow, and merchandising principles to the table.

Key Responsibilities

  • Form part of our Store Design & Visual Merchandise team, supporting the Design Manager
  • Contributing to the design and rollout of new stores and refurbishments
  • Developing space planning concepts that optimise customer flow and product storytelling
  • Producing detailed technical drawings and documentation from concept development to technical detailing and site execution
  • Creating 3D models and visual presentations to communicate design intent
  • Conducting site surveys and compiling accurate as-built drawings
  • Collaborating closely with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution
  • Assisting with in-store installations and visual merchandising implementation
  • Upholding brand consistency across all retail environments

Requirements

  • Matric certificate
  • A relevant Interior Design qualification
  • 35 years of experience in interior design (retail experience essential)
  • Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (non-negotiable)
  • SketchUp (advantageous but not essential), Rendering experience (beneficial)
  • Photoshop skills are advantageous for presentation and rendering enhancement
  • Solid understanding of retail environments, customer flow, and merchandising principles
  • Ability to project roll-out from concept to completion
  • Strong technical detailing, balance technical precision and documentation skills
  • Detail-driven yet creative, with aesthetic sensitivity
  • Excellent organisational and project coordination ability
  • Understanding that retail spaces thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Willingness to travel for site surveys and store installations
  • Own reliable transport (required for site visits and store travel)
