About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Machine Setter to join our dynamic manufacturing team in Cape Town. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth, accurate, and efficient production runs.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete all machine and component setups according to job specifications and timelines.
- Verify setup accuracy and functionality before production.
- Align, calibrate, and ensure all tooling and components operate correctly.
- Create and maintain detailed Setters Notes for each job.
- Record step-by-step instructions, tooling adjustments, machine parameters, and critical observations.
- Use notes to enable faster, standardized setups and ensure consistent production quality.
- Work closely with the toolroom and production teams to resolve setup challenges.
- Troubleshoot tooling or setup issues proactively.
- Coordinate with draughtsmen to align drawings and CNC programs with practical setups.
- Conduct thorough checks to ensure setups meet quality and safety standards.
- Perform trial runs to confirm production readiness.
- Ensure all components and tools are tested and operational to minimize downtime.
- Identify opportunities to streamline setups and reduce setup times.
- Suggest modifications to tooling and machines to enhance efficiency.
- Participate in team training and share knowledge to strengthen technical expertise.
- Return tools and components to designated locations after production.
- Maintain and clean tools, storing them with the last-off sample for reference.
- Initiate repair requests for tools showing wear or requiring updates.
Requirements
Proven experience in machine setup, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate with teams and work independently.
Knowledge of CNC programs, tooling, and production processes is advantageous.
