Job Description

A reputable FMCG manufacturing company is seeking a reliable Maintenance Assistant to support day-to-day plant maintenance operations at their facility in Blackheath, Cape Town . The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance background, be hands-on, and able to support breakdowns, preventative maintenance, and general plant upkeep. An electrical trade test background will be considered a strong advantage but is not essential. Responsibilities: Assist with routine and preventative maintenance on FMCG production machinery and plant equipment. Support maintenance technicians during breakdowns and fault-finding activities. Carry out basic electrical and mechanical repairs under supervision. Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly condition. Adhere to health, safety, and food safety standards within the manufacturing environment. Assist with installations, modifications, and minor projects as required. Accurately complete maintenance checklists and basic documentation. Perform other maintenance-related duties as required from time to time. Requirements: Previous experience in a maintenance or technical assistant role within an FMCG or manufacturing environment. Basic electrical knowledge; an electrical trade test will be a strong advantage. Willingness to learn and work under supervision of qualified artisans. Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail. Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork skills. Ability to work shifts if required.
