About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Marine Structural Engineer with experience in Cape Town, South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and overseeing marine structural engineering projects, including design, analysis, and construction supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage marine structural engineering projects from concept to completion
- Conduct design calculations and analysis for marine structures, including offshore platforms, piers, and jetties
- Review and approve engineering drawings and specifications
- Provide expert advice and guidance on marine structural engineering matters
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure project compliance and successful delivery
- Mentor and oversee junior engineers and technical staff
- Prepare project reports, presentations, and technical documentation as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, with a specialization in marine or offshore engineering
- Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PrEng) is preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in marine structural engineering, with a focus on complex offshore structures
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as STAAD Pro, SACS, and AutoCAD
- Experience with conducting site inspections and field investigations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong project management and leadership abilities
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards, including API, ASCE, and DNV
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
