As a Product Owner you will be at the forefront of shaping and steering the WIRE platform,
a leading solution in the mining and mineral processing industry. Your primary role will be to
understand the market needs, customer requirements, and technological trends to ensure that WIRE
remains a cutting-edge, customer-centric product. You will work closely with cross-functional teams
including engineering, design, sales, marketing, and customer support to build and enhance the
product’s features and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Vision and Strategy:
- Develop and articulate a clear vision for the WIRE platform.
- Align the product strategy with MMSs overall business goals and objectives.
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
Backlog Management:
- Create and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring it aligns with the product vision and customer needs.
- Define user stories and acceptance criteria for each feature or enhancement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine and adjust the backlog as needed.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Act as the primary liaison between the development team and stakeholders.
- Gather and synthesise feedback from customers, sales teams, and market analysis.
- Communicate the product strategy and roadmap to all relevant stakeholders.
- Provide feedback and guidance to the team during the development process.
Customer and Market Understanding:
- Maintain a deep understanding of customer experiences and challenges, particularly in the mining and minerals processing industry.
- Translate customer insights into actionable product features and improvements.
- Ensure the product adheres to industry standards and regulatory requirements, particularly in the mining and mineral processing sectors.
Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the product team.
- Stay updated on the latest industry trends and technological advancements.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical coordination or product management role in a software development environment.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).
- Advanced proficiency in project management tools (e.g., ClickUp, Jira).
Characteristics and soft skills:
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Evidence of client exposure; good client communication skills, i.e. confident being in meetings.
- Willing to learn and take on feedback.
- Confident and reliable when working independently.
- Approachable, responsive and inquisitive.
- Takes pride in their work and delivers outputs to a high standard.
- Proactive, self-motivated and generally enthusiastic.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
