Cape Town: Night Shift Supervisor posted by Hire Resolve

Job Description

A leading producer and exporter of Rooibos and other herbal teas, is seeking a Night Shift Supervisor to join their team. The company specializes in sourcing, processing, blending, and packaging premium-quality natural teas for both local and international markets. The chosen candidate will lead the warehouse night shift to ensure accurate, safe, and timely receiving, storage, labelling, and dispatch of goods; uphold food safety and quality protocols; and maintain real-time inventory visibility via ERP data capture.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the warehouse night shift team.

  • Coordinate the dispatch of all finished products according to sales orders.

  • Check and maintain stock levels of raw materials and packaging.

  • Conduct and prepare for monthly stock counts.

  • Ensure the store layout and practices comply with HACCP and Organic certification standards.

  • Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in stores and yard areas.

  • Inspect forklifts daily to ensure they are operational and safe.

  • Plan and communicate weekly and weekend shift layouts and staff rosters.

  • Allocate staff to appropriate areas based on skills and workload.

  • Manage employee relations, including discipline, leave, and performance.

  • Ensure staff comply with safety legislation and wear required PPE.

  • Verify the condition and weight of received goods and record them accurately.

  • Label all incoming raw materials correctly and ensure proper storage.

  • Supervise the off-loading of certified materials and maintain segregation and documentation.

  • Check that dispatched products match sales notes, are undamaged, and correctly labelled.

  • Oversee loading, sealing, and documentation of dispatch containers.

  • Supply raw materials to production and packaging departments as required.

  • Move and label final products and waste grades accurately.

  • Capture live production data on the floor every two hours and update ERP (NAV/Business Central) systems.

  • Validate production paperwork and investigate any discrepancies immediately.

  • Escalate stock or ERP variances within one hour of detection.

  • Maintain accurate stock removal and inventory records daily.

  • Enforce forklift pre-operational safety checks and remove unsafe equipment from service.

  • Supervise safe stacking and de-stacking of bulk bags and pallets.

  • Keep aisles and emergency routes clear at all times.

  • Maintain food safety, hygiene, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards.

  • Report potential food safety or contamination risks.

  • Ensure successful completion of internal and external food safety, ethical, and organic audits.

  • Monitor and drive readiness for monthly stock counts and ensure accurate results.

  • Communicate with Production Foremen, Quality Control, and Warehouse Coordinators to ensure smooth operations.

  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and adherence to company policies across all warehouse functions.

  • Matric with Mathematics (essential).

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a factory or warehouse environment.

  • At least 23 years of supervisory experience.

  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including receiving, dispatch, stock control, and staff supervision.

  • Knowledge of HACCP, Organic certification, and food safety standards.

  • Code EB (08) drivers licence (required).

  • Forklift licence (advantageous for oversight purposes).

About the Role

Hire Resolve, a leading producer and exporter of Rooibos and other herbal teas, is seeking an experienced Night Shift Supervisor to join their team. The chosen candidate will lead the warehouse night shift to ensure accurate, safe, and timely receiving, storage, labelling, and dispatch of goods; uphold food safety and quality protocols; and maintain real-time inventory visibility via ERP data capture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the warehouse night shift team.
  • Coordinate the dispatch of all finished products according to sales orders.
  • Check and maintain stock levels of raw materials and packaging.
  • Conduct and prepare for monthly stock counts.
  • Ensure the store layout and practices comply with HACCP and Organic certification standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in stores and yard areas.
  • Inspect forklifts daily to ensure they are operational and safe.
  • Plan and communicate weekly and weekend shift layouts and staff rosters.
  • Allocate staff to appropriate areas based on skills and workload.
  • Manage employee relations, including discipline, leave, and performance.
  • Ensure staff comply with safety legislation and wear required PPE.
  • Verify the condition and weight of received goods and record them accurately.
  • Label all incoming raw materials correctly and ensure proper storage.
  • Supervise the off-loading of certified materials and maintain segregation and documentation.
  • Check that dispatched products match sales notes, are undamaged, and correctly labelled.
  • Oversee loading, sealing, and documentation of dispatch containers.
  • Supply raw materials to production and packaging departments as required.
  • Move and label final products and waste grades accurately.
  • Capture live production data on the floor every two hours and update ERP systems.
  • Validate production paperwork and investigate any discrepancies immediately.
  • Escalate stock or ERP variances within one hour of detection.
  • Maintain accurate stock removal and inventory records daily.
  • Enforce forklift pre-operational safety checks and remove unsafe equipment from service.
  • Supervise safe stacking and de-stacking of bulk bags and pallets.
  • Keep aisles and emergency routes clear at all times.
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene, and GMP standards.
  • Report potential food safety or contamination risks.
  • Ensure successful completion of internal and external food safety, ethical, and organic audits.
  • Monitor and drive readiness for monthly stock counts and ensure accurate results.
  • Communicate with Production Foremen, Quality Control, and Warehouse Coordinators to ensure smooth operations.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and adherence to company policies across all warehouse functions.

Requirements

  • Matric with Mathematics (essential)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a factory or warehouse environment
  • At least 23 years of supervisory experience

  • Code EB (08) drivers licence (required)
