Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Staging (order preparation)

Check that all products are organized as per client requirements.

Ensure that the area is ready for work processing.

Raise any discrepancies with warehouse picking departments and inform supervisor.

Organize and priorities orders according to the plans provided by the Distribution Department.

Ensure that all products are staged accurately and efficiently as per customer requirements.

Check that all documentation details match actual order details.

Ensure orders are presented to dispatch for loading timeously.

Assist by affirming stock description and quantity with stager.

Pack staged stock into boxes /crates.

Strap customer order together.

Ensure orders are placed correctly on trollies as staged.

Ensure orders are labelled on trollies.

Ensure trollies are sent to correct bays.

Quality control

Ensures that stock is in good quality.

Performs quality checks on orders picked.

Liaise with warehouse for any shortfalls.

Ensure stock does not get damaged when being prepared.

Check if correct products and the right quantity match the details of the customer order.

Evaluate the correctness and quality of orders by comparing the contents with the information on the picking slip, e.g., title, quality, ref number, quantity etc.

Food Safety

Ensure warehouse equipment is properly maintained.

Handle stock correctly according to food safety.

Enforce compliance to food safety policies and procedures.

Perform all work in accordance with company standards and established safety procedures.

Ensure appearance and uniform is compliant with food safety requirements.

Maintain safe working environment according to company food safety procedures.

Familiarize yourself with the food safety rules and hazards and report any risk.

Comply with food safety rules of no stock on the floor, no stock against walls, etc.

Report any observation of pests and non-conformance.

Health and Safety

Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Grade 10
  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in warehouse operations in medium to large scale Warehouse environment
  • Proven experience to any role or duties relating to warehousing and stock control.
  • Knowledge and experience in safety practices and procedures applicable to handling of food products.
  • FMCG experience highly advantageous
