As a Senior Specialist Accountant, you will take ownership of the full accounting and month-end process for the life insurance business, ensuring compliance with IFRS 17. You will collaborate closely with actuarial, IT, underwriting, and audit teams to deliver accurate insights and drive process improvements.

Duties:
- Manage the full accounting and month-end function for the life insurance entity.
- Maintain accurate financial records for policies, premiums, claims, and related transactions under IFRS 17.
- Prepare, review, and present IFRS 17-compliant financial statements and disclosures.
- Analyse data to highlight key financial trends and business insights.
- Reconcile financial data and support external and internal audits.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Educate stakeholders on IFRS 17 requirements and reporting changes.
- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes and systems.
Job Experience & Skills Required:
Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- BCom Accounting
- BCom Honours / CTA
- CA(SA)
Experience:
- Completed SAICA Articles
- 3–5 years’ post-articles experience.
- Proven Insurance industry background with hands-on IFRS 17 exposure.
- Strong track record in month-end close and preparation of financial statements.
- Advantageous: Experience in company tax calculations within the insurance sector.
Skills & Competencies:
- Expert knowledge of IFRS 17 and its application.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in financial systems for IFRS 17 reporting.
- Excellent communication skills to engage and influence stakeholders.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and able to work across diverse teams.
