About the Role
Hire Resolve is currently searching for a skilled and experienced Resident Engineer to work on a road construction project in Cofimvaba, Eastern Cape. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing site supervision staff, liaising with the Contracts Engineer, and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage site supervision staff (ARE, SMT etc)
- Liaison with the Contracts Engineer on all contractual matters before implementation
- Monitoring and reporting of the Contractors programme
- Implement Engineers quality control plan
- Monitor Contractors quality control plan
- Approve all materials and ensure compliance of materials mix designs to the specifications
- Monitor and report on conformance to all relevant Environmental legislation and requirements
- Checking and controlling of quantities measured and agreed by the Contractor and the site supervisory staff and settling any disputes that may arise in this regard
- Measurement and certification of completed work inclusive of cash flow forecasts
- Review and analyse claims and/or disputes or differences that may arise between the Employer and Contractor
- Issuing works authorisations, as agreed with and approved by the Contract Engineer and Employer
- Site audits, inspection, quality control testing, approval, rejection of work
- Management of ITIS software which includes the following modules: contract module: contract management , project information module: uploading of data including personnel and employment data
- Arranging and attending monthly technical and site meetings and keeping minutes of such meetings
- Conduct meetings with affected communities and relevant forums, if necessary, to establish communication channels and to determine issues impacting on the construction phase
- Monitoring of the third-party claims
- Monitoring and reporting of Contractors CPG commitments through ITIS
- Supervision of traffic accommodation arrangements where applicable
- Statutory control functions, which may include investigations into the legality of services and accesses without formal wayleave agreements and assist with the application for approval where required
- Attend Project Liaison Committee (PLC) and Project Management Team (PMT) and all other meetings relating to the Targeted Enterprises and Targeted Labour
- Monitoring and reporting of the projects EMP and NEMA requirements
- Implement the Engineers requirements in terms of compliance with the OH&S Act
- Monitor the Contractors compliance with the OH&S Act
- Compile all reports and as-built data in accordance with the Employer’s standard requirements
- Management of Geosures service providers as they pertain to the works
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Resident Engineer on road construction projects
- Proficient in project management software and tools
- Strong knowledge of road construction techniques and materials
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Valid driver’s license
