About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Control Systems Design Engineer (I&CS) to join our team in Durban. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for managing and delivering complex projects from concept through to completion, with a focus on technical design capability and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver engineering projects from concept through to completion
- Prepare conceptual, basic, and detailed designs
- Develop specifications, datasheets, cost estimates, and project schedules
- Ensure compliance with SANS, IEC, ISA, and OHS Act standards
- Design field instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, level, analyzers) and control systems architecture (PLC, DCS, SCADA, SIS)
- Develop loop designs, alarm management, and system integration
- Utilize design tools such as EPLAN, AutoCAD, SmartPlant Instrumentation (or similar)
- Execute project execution & coordination tasks, including client interaction and requirement interpretation
- Conduct site investigations and construction support
- Manage the tender process and technical adjudication
- Perform quality control on budgets, schedules, and deliverables
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years experience in design engineering
- Qualification: B.Tech / B.Sc. Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Strong exposure to heavy industrial or petrochemical environments (advantageous)
