Job Summary

Our client is searching for an Office custodian to join their team in Durban.

Summary
Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the office space, as well as providing administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Office Cleaning and Maintenance: Perform daily cleaning duties, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing all areas of the office, including workstations, common areas, and restrooms. Monitor and replenish cleaning and sanitation supplies as needed. Ensure all areas of the office are clean, safe, and presentable for employees and visitors
  • Waste management: Collect and dispose of trash and recyclables from designated areas, ensuring compliance with waste disposal regulations and company policies. Manage waste receptacles, including replacing liners and cleaning bins as necessary
  • Office Organization: Maintain organization and orderliness in the office by arranging furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed. Assist with Inventory management, including receiving and distributing office supplies and monitoring stock levels
  • Administrative Support: Provide general Administrative support to office staff, including reception support and answering phones, responding to emails, and handling mail and deliveries. Assist with scheduling meetings, booking appointments, and coordinating travel arrangements as needed. Assist with document preparation, photocopying, and filing to support administrative needs of the office. Provide reception support
  • Facilities Maintenance: Report any Maintenance issues to repair needs to the appropriate personnel and follow up to ensure timely resolution. Assist with basic facility maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and minor repairs

Qualifications and skills

  • High school Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in custodial or customer service
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and stand for extended periods
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds).
  • While performing the duties, will be required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see
  • Personal protective equipment may be required when performing work in an outdoor or plant environment, including a hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and other protective equipment as required.
  • The company promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and ongoing random drug testing.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a one (1) year contract position, Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
