About the Role
Our client, a leader in the Flexible Packaging industry, is seeking an experienced Production Shift Manager (Packaging) to oversee the production process and ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a highly skilled and high performance team that consistently achieves and exceeds performance standards, targets, and KPIs
- Manage the activities and performance of supervisors, operators, and operator assistants, and support employees on your shift
- Satisfy and conform to customer demands (quality, quantity, on time) and requirements, and maximize utilization of resources on your shift
- Ensure that health and safety standards are adhering to at all times (written safe work procedures, no unsafe conditions)
- Maintain the highest standard of housekeeping
- Clean machines and equipment as per agreed schedules, ensuring they are clean at all times and meeting required standards
- Perform daily inspections, report faults, and arrange for repairs
- Ensure that Africomms function at the desired level, continuously updating online HERO Records with updated Hero outstanding, recognition, and improvement ideas
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in the department (Fish-bones, 5WHYs, JDI’s, OPL’s), solving operational problems
- Ensure compliance with BRC-certification of conformity system
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2008 quality management systems
- Ensure compliance with OHDAS 1800:2007 occupational health & safety management system
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001:2004 environmental management systems
- Investigate, establish the root cause of allocated customer complaints, and implement corrective actions to eliminate the root cause
- Identify and actively pursue cost-saving possibilities
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Qualified Trade Tested
- Diploma in Production or Operations Management
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Flexo/Gravure Operator in a production environment
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Supervisor in a production environment
- Experience with Africomms
- Experience leading continuous improvement projects
