About the Role
Our client, a multidisciplinary consulting firm in the built environment sector, is seeking an experienced Professional Quantity Surveyor (SACQSP) to join their team in Durban. As a key member of the project management team, you will be responsible for providing expert cost planning and estimation services to public and private clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and bills of quantities (BOQs) for project tender submissions and internal budgeting.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for proposed works.
- Advise on procurement strategies and cost-saving options.
- Contract Administration:
- Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate contract variations, claims, and amendments.
- Track contractual obligations and assist with drafting and reviewing contract documents.
- Financial Management:
- Monitor project expenditures and provide regular cost reports and forecasts.
- Manage progress payments, valuations, and invoices for contractors and subcontractors.
- Ensure financial control through robust cost-tracking systems.
- Risk & Compliance:
- Identify and assess potential financial, contractual, and project risks.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, industry standards, and project-specific regulations.
- Project Coordination:
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure accurate cost planning.
- Attend site meetings, conduct site inspections, and monitor project progress against budgets.
- Final Accounts:
- Prepare final account statements upon project completion.
- Reconcile all project costs and ensure clear documentation of expenditures and variations.
