The Natural Adabas Developer will be responsible for performing system application programming and related analysis tasks. Youll evaluate business requirements, conduct technical feasibility studies, and design, build, document, and implement mainframe application systems. The role also includes enhancing existing applications, ensuring system reliability, and mentoring junior developers within the team. Duties: Design, develop, test, and implement application programs using Natural 4GL and Adabas. Analyse business and technical requirements to translate them into functional solutions. Conduct impact and feasibility studies to guide technical decisions. Maintain and enhance existing systems to ensure optimal performance and stability. Perform code reviews and mentor junior developers to maintain coding standards. Collaborate with stakeholders to align systems development with business needs. Ensure adherence to development and change control standards. Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation and user guides. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production systems. Stay up to date with current trends and tools in mainframe application development. Job Experience & Skills Required: Qualifications: Matric (Garde 12) BSc Information Systems, BCom Business, Accounting, or a related field. Experience: 7 years of experience in Natural/Adabas development. Strong exposure to BATCH and Online processing . Proven experience in designing, building, and maintaining mainframe applications . Experience mentoring junior developers and performing code reviews. Technical Skills: Natural 4GL, Adabas, JCL, SQL, Power BI (advantageous) and Mainframe environments and tools (Software AG stack) Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Meticulous attention to detail and strong documentation discipline. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Logical thinker with strong judgment and accountability. Proactive, reliable, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
